February edition of digital NRL News now online - NRL News Today

By Dave Andrusko

It’s my favorite day of the month, the day when the monthly digital edition of National Right to Life News gets posted. If I may ask you perhaps before you even knew the February issue was online, to read the entire 38 page edition and share it with your friends and family.

Before you even get to page one, your heart will be grabbed by the terrific cover graphic with a timeless message, the day before Valentine’s Day: “Without life there is no love.”

On page one we have very happy news and very sad news. For those who may have missed it, last Friday’s actions culminated a long, long fight. Finally the infamous Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) was repealed as part of the broader appropriations measure, which passed the U.S. House and U.S. Senate.

NRLC has opposed IPAB from the get-go. As NRLC has written, lobbied, and testified about, the very reason for this unelected, unaccountable 15-member board of bureaucrats was to limit the ability of Americans of all ages to spend their own money to save their own lives.

The sad news is that one of the nicest gentlemen you will ever meet passed away: Bill Molitor. Here’s is a small part of what NRLC Convention Director had to say about Bill:

Mr. Molitor (Mr. Bill as we fondly referred to him), was our official photographer and he and his wonderful wife, MaryLou, did this as volunteers and out of the kindness of their hearts. MaryLou took on many, many, many other tasks as a volunteer and made beautiful signs, transcribed sessions, ran errands, manned the office, brought snacks, and did a multitude of other jobs that she willingly and expertly took on.

Twenty-five years of selflessness. Everyone at NRLC will miss Bill.

The February edition looks back at the annual March for Life, particularly on the remarks of President Donald Trump, whom pro-life Vice President Mike Pence called “the most pro-life President in American history.”

We covered the surprising retirement of PPFA President Cecile Richards and the mischief other pro-abortionists. But as always our emphasis was on the life-affirming.

For example, how Dana Scatton, a teen who is fighting inoperative brain cancer, delivered a miracle baby. Then there is Lucas Warren, the 2018 Gerber Baby, the first ever to have Down syndrome.

Or the story of Ryan and Rebecca Holets. Ryan, a police officer, found a pregnant, heroin- addicted woman about to shoot up. To quote President Trump, “When Ryan told her she was going to harm her unborn child, she began to weep. She told him she did not know where to turn, but badly wanted a safe home for her baby.”

Ryan and Rebecca were already the parents of four children, but when Ryan told her that he felt God had called on them to adopt the baby, “in an instant, she agreed to adopt. The Holets named their new daughter Hope.”

I’ll write more tomorrow about the February issue of the “Pro-Life Newspaper of record.” In the meanwhile, I trust you will begin reading it and passing stories along to friends and family.
